Course Requirements
Anyone who needs to renew their 35-hours of periodic CPC, and haven’t completed Driver Essentials within the last five years, should complete this session.
Ongoing Requirements
You must ensure that you complete the full 35 hours of periodic CPC every five years in order to drive for hire or reward. In a 5-year rolling period, you cannot complete the same topic more than once within this window. Many complete the full 35-hour requirement in one week, while others do a single 7 hour course annually.
Test Requirements
Our Periodic CPC courses have no test requirements to pass. As long as you show that you are actively taking in the information the instructor is giving you, the CPC hours will be added to your DQC.
Further Training
The only training required thereafter is recompleting periodic training in the next 5-year period.

Who is this course for?
Anyone who drives a commercial vehicle for hire or reward must, by law, complete 35 hours of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence training (DCPC) within 5 years. Whether you complete the whole 35 hours in one week, or one 7-hour session a year, you must adhere to the guidelines set out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
Periodic training is in place so that all drivers can stay compliant in the sector.
What can I drive with a CPC Certification?
Periodic CPC allows you to operate HGV’s or PCV’s for commercial purposes. This is a continuous requirement and if you do not meet the requirement of 35 hours in the five year window, you will not be allowed to operate for profit.
What will you receive upon successful completion of this course?
Completion of this course will add 7-hours of DCPC training to your Driver’s Qualification Card. Our CPC training courses are governed by the Joint Approval Unit for Periodic Training.
