Pivot Steer Forklift
From: £246.00
the Pivot Steer Forklift training will cover how to properly manoeuvre Stack and de-stack using this Forklift Truck (FLT). The Pivot Steer falls into the P Group of Forklifts. This truck has the ability to articulate the forks, through 180 degrees. helping to move round corners and into Aisles when space is restricted. A Pivot Steer forklift can operate in aisle widths as small as 1.8 meters which increases warehouse space for more capacity. A Pivot Steer truck can also operate inside and outside as well which is in addition to narrow aisles, doing the job of both a counterbalance and a reach truck all in one machine.

Forklift Requirements
To complete training to operate a Pivot Steer FLT, you must be at least 16 years old. The Forklift you are planning to operate must be the Truck you are completing training and testing for.
Ongoing Requirements
To retain your ITSSAR accredited certification, it is advised that you should attend refresher training every 3-5 years in accordance with the ACOP L117 so that you are compliant. If you cannot find your certification, then you should complete our experienced operator course.
Test Requirements
You will complete three tests in total.
- Theory Test.
- Pre-use Inspection Test.
- Practical Skills Test.
Theory Test:
The first is the theory test. You are required to complete 5 open and 20 multiple choice questions. These questions will apply to the industry, and you will have to also consider the working environment when answering them.
A minimum mark of 80% is necessary to pass this test.
Pre-use Inspection test:
The pre-use checks test an operator’s ability to correctly asses and check the key components of the pivot-steer forklift to ensure the vehicle is safe and fit for use, this includes checking 18 key areas of the forklift and is typically broken down into two areas of focus.
Walkaround Visual Checks:
- Forks
- Carriage and Side Shift
- Load Guard
- Mast and Mast Rollers
- Lift Chains and Pulleys
- Hydraulics
- Steering Pump and Mechanism
- Wheels and Tyres
- External Condition
- Battery and Charger
- Operating position and rating plate
- Seat
Functional Checks:
- Lights & Warning Indicators
- Horn and Warning Alarms
- Hydraulic Controls
- Drive and Braking
- Steering
Fuel Checks:
- Petrol/Diesel/LPG
- Fuel Level
- Fuel Connectors
- Engine Oil Level
- Coolant Level
- Battery
- Fan or Other Belts
- Inching Pedal
- LPG Bottle Security
- Electric
- Electrolyte Levels
- Cable Connections
- General Cleanliness
- Battery Security
Practical Skills Test:
The third test is the practical assessment. You will be marked on how you operate and manoeuvre the forklift, both with and without a load through a dedicated course to demonstrate your safe operation of the pivot steer FLT.
You must show that you understand the following competencies:
- Mounting, dismounting and parking a truck
- Starting and stopping a truck
- Driving forwards and in reverse, including braking
- Steering accurately
- Lifting and travelling with a load
- Using hydraulic controls correctly and sympathetically
- Judging the position of fork tips at varying heights, laden and unladen
- Stacking and de-stacking accurately at various heights
- Observing the working environment and judging speed, height, width and distance from within the confines of the machine.
Further Training
While refresher training can be completed for the Reach Forklift, you can opt for a conversion course, which will take the skills you have already acclaimed through your Pivot Steer training, and implement it with another Forklift Truck, such as a Counterbalance FLT.
You can choose to upskill and complete our Forklift Instructor course, so you can train other individuals in getting their FLT certification.
