Become a certified forklift truck instructor/examiner with 2 Start. On completion of the course you will understand the principles of forklift truck operation, safety and training. Extensive coverage includes roles of the instructor, learning methods, principles of instruction, lesson types and plans, classroom and training aids, along with assessments and reporting, skills testing and ongoing assessment. Each student must have had an operators certificate issued within 6 months.

Course Requirements
To complete our instructor course for forklift operating, you must have at least 12 months operating experience of a Forklift. If you are completing our re-registration course, a proof of your current certification is required.
Ongoing Requirements
The Re-registration course is required to keep your certification in date. If you have a FLT instructor certification, you can complete our Direct Entry course to convert it into an ITSSAR Accredited certification.
Test Requirements
There are several Examinations that must be Completed:
- Conduct a Practical Demonstration
- Conduct a Practical Lesson
- Theory Health & Safety at Work
- Theory Instructional Techniques
- Theory Recommendations of Training
- Report Writing
- Conduct a Practical Skills Test
Further Training
Refreshing your knowledge and training by completing our Re-Registration Forklift Instructor course would be necessary to keep your certification in date.

Forklift instructors can be external or inhouse. A Forklift instructor can see a salary of £26,000 annually. This doesn’t consider any additional roles you may have within your line of work.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who is looking to upskill in their career and gain an ITSSAR certification for Forklift Instructing should complete our Novice training and testing. If you need to refresh your current ITSSAR instructor certification, then you should complete the re-registration course. Finally, if you have a forklift instructor certification, but would like to change it to an ITSSAR certification, then the direct entry course is best suited.
What can I drive with a Forklift Instructor Certification?
Our FLT instructor course focuses on the Counterbalance Forklift Truck. However, if you then complete any other Forklift operator course (Pivot Steer for example) after obtaining your FLT instructor certification, you will automatically be allowed to instruct others on these trucks.
What will you receive upon successful completion of this course?
You will receive your Forklift Instructor certification once you pass all the exams. You will also be added to the ITSSAR Trained Operator Passport (TOPs) scheme of Forklift Instructors.
