Our IPAF 1b, 3a or 3b demonstrator training are typically 1-day courses, covering both theory and practical training. Choose from an individual Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) or a variation of the three types of MEWPS offered to complete your demonstrator training for.
This course trains students how to demonstrate the functionality of the specific machine that they are either delivering or familiarising on to other qualified operators which includes the emergency lowering procedures. In order to complete demonstrator training, you must have already completed and passed an operator course for the relevant machine.

Course Modules
This course will cover various aspects regarding the use and functionality of MEWPs. This ensures accurate, safe use of the machine applicable. The course is ideal for site supervisors and managers as it’s important that they are able to show others how to properly operate MEWPs.
Additionally, those who are demonstrating powered access platforms to customers will also need to have taken this course and secured the correct qualification. Choose to add 3a or 3b MEWP to your training course.
Couse content will include:
- Understanding the functionality of the MEWP you are training for
- Daily maintenance, which has to be carried out before commencing work(s)
- The correct and safe methods of operating a 1b static boom, 3a Mobile Vertical and/or 3b mobile boom MEWP.
- The appropriate emergency procedures
- Specifications and limitations of the machine in order to enable safe operation

Course Requirements
To complete this training, you need to have already completed IPAF operator training for the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) you are completing demonstrator training for. You must bring the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to your course.
Ongoing Requirements
To keep your certification for the 1b, 3a or 3b MEWPs, you need to recomplete training every 5 years. This keeps the certification on your ePAL valid and allows you to continue to demonstrate safe work on MEWPs.
Test Requirements
The first test requirement is completing a theory assessment. You have to show that your understand the principles around the MEWP you are completing training for.
You will also conduct a practical demonstration, which you must implement good communication, what’s involved in the familiarisation and show you can use the MEWP safely and appropriately.
The tests are designed to show your instructor that you can demonstrate how to use the MEWP in question to other operators, in accordance with the proper health & safety regulations.
