Course Requirements
Anyone who is planning to become a nominated Transport Manager in their business can complete this full course.
Ongoing Requirements
Once you become a Transport Manager, your certification will not expire. Although, it is advised to complete refresher training every five years, or as required by the Traffic Commissioner. If you require refresher training, then you should complete our Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT) for Road Haulage.
Test Requirements
The goal of the complete is course is to give the learner knowledge and understanding to which they can use to help complete their road haulage paper 1 & 2 exams.
Total Qualification Time: 141 hours, including 72 hours Guided Learning.
Total Qualification Time (TQT) is defined as the number of hours which represent the total amount of time that could reasonably be expected to be required for a Learner to achieve and demonstrate the level of attainment necessary for the award of a qualification.
CILT(UK) qualification specifications and associated materials are offered in English only. All assessment responses must be in English only.
Case Study Exam
There are three case study questions, which each focus on a specific module you have studies throughout your course.
Your exam will also provide you any additional information relevant to your answering of the question.
The case study exam lasts for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The pass mark is 50% (30 out of 60) with 20 marks being available for each question.
Multiple choice Exam
The multiple-choice exam is closed book based, so you will not be provided supporting resources during your examination. The goal of this assessment is to test your analysis and evaluation of the core knowledge around the modules, laws and legislations.
The paper will last for 2 hours.
The pass mark for this multiple-choice exam is of 28 marks out of 40.
To achieve the CILT(UK) Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (Road Haulage) Learners will need to pass both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
If either Paper 1 or Paper 2 is not achieved in one sitting, a resit for that Paper will be required.
Further Training
Further training required, once passed, will include completing refresher training (also known as Operator Licence Awareness Training) to keep updated with the rules, regulations and legislations. Rule of thumb is completing this every five years. However, the Traffic Commissioner can instruct you to complete refresher training when they believe you need to complete this.
Earning Potential
A transport manager could receive a salary of up to £47,000. The longer you are in this role, the more experienced you will become, meaning a potential increase in salary.

Anyone who is looking to upskill or plan to run a fleet of vehicles either in their current line of work, or in a new job role should take the full course.
Although there are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, it is recommended that students have both English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2 (GCSE) standard before they studying at this qualification level.

Once you successfully pass the Transport Manager course, you will be awarded your Transport Manager Road Haulage certification. While this is a lifetime certification, the traffic commissioner will expect your to complete refresher training every five years.
